Quilt Care:

All Shadywood Quilts are crafted with pride from 100% cotton fabrics first quality cotton batting and cotton thread. Our quilts are machine washable.

We machine piece and machine quilt our quilts. They are meant to be used.

Here is how we wash our quilts.

Washing Your Quilt:

Use a gentle laundry detergent, one that DOES NOT CONTAIN BLEACH.
Set the washer to a warm/cold gentle cycle. Remove from washer promptly.

To treat a stain, mix water and delicate laundry detergent (such as Ivory) in equal parts and "dab" mixture on the spot. Let set for a couple of minutes, then gently rub the fabric together. Apply clean dry towel several times to remove detergent and water.

Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to wash water. White vinegar sets dark colors and keeps colors bright and fresh. Rinse in cold water.

Drying Your Quilt:

We dry our quilts in the dryer. If you line dry your quilt hang with lining side out or place a sheet over it (to protect quilt from sun exposure) and while still damp your quilt can be fluffed in the dryer to reduce wrinkles.

Custom Quilts:

Our Custom Order Photo Memory Quilts and T-Shirt Memory Quilts come with washing instructions.

T-Shirt Quilts:

If the shirts used in your quilt where washable, they are still washable. If you dried them in the dryer you may still dry them, however, please consider all of the shirts within the quilt before you decide to wash and/or dry it.

Photo Quilts:

Our Photo Quilts are washable. Your quilt will come with washing instructions. Photo Quilts can be washed by hand or machine in cold water. If machine washing , use gentle cycle. REMOVE PROMPTLY. Lay flat to dry. If soiled add liquid fabric softener to cold water wash. Lay flat to dry.
